Ok, ya everyone wants to be green these days. A sign studio isn't your mostly likely suspect for green work but we do our best. During the sign design and production process we end up with scraps of vinyl and LOTS of paper. Most shops pitch it right in the can. At Chelsea Signs we donate our extra paper and vinyl to area preschools and art programs for use in art projects. The kids like the bright colors of vinyl to use in their projects and the extra large pieces of paper are big enough for the kids to trace their bodies or make extra large drawings.
We also do the same as everyone else, recycle cardboard and white papers. Eckland Imaging and Design, our parent company, is also a Waste Knot Partner. Here is a little blurb about the program:
The Waste Knot program aims to develop relationships within the Washtenaw County business community to increase waste reduction and recycling activities.
To achieve its mission, the Waste Knot Program provides community-wide recognition and organization-based technical assistance along with value-added education to organizations that exhibit leadership in waste reduction and recycling or to organizations that desire to become leaders in waste reduction and recycling.
